When Caption.Ed is active on your Mac, your Mac's audio is directed to the Caption.Ed application; this allows Caption.Ed to "listen" to the audio so it can provide captions. The audio is then routed back out to your speakers or headphones so you can listen to it, too. When the Caption.Ed application is stopped it should revert the audio routing back to normal.
Occasionally, something can stop the audio from being re-routed properly, but this can be easily resolved by following the steps below:
Step 1: Go to 'System Preferences' on your Mac
Step 2: Go to 'Sound'
Step 3: Select 'Output'
Step 4: Select the device you wish the audio to be played through (headphones/speaker).
Now, when you play audio on your Mac it should come out of your selected output device.

When you connect a set of Bluetooth headphones, often the sound settings on your machine will need adjusting to ensure the correct playback device is selected. Please follow the step by step guide below to rectify this issue:
Step 1: Click on the speaker icon in your desktop toolbar (bottom right corner of the screen) and expand the pane.
Step 2: Select your headphones/headset from the list of available devices
Once you have selected your headset, you should then be able to hear your computer's audio through your headphones whilst captioning.

Occasionally, you might find that whilst running Caption.Ed your audio crackles. This usually only happens when using the browser extension, and it's normally a sign that your computer is struggling to run too many applications at once.
We would recommend you try the following things to help resolve this:
Ensure you are running the latest version of the Chrome or Edge browser, and update the browser if required.
Close any applications on your computer that you're not currently using.
Restart your computer.
Ensure you have a reliable internet connection.
If crackling persists we'd strongly recommend you move to the desktop Caption.Ed application.

If your license key is not working this could be for a variety of reasons. For Security reasons, license keys can only be used once. This is to stop a license key from being reused by lots of different people. If you have recently changed machines and are trying to reinstall TalkType you will require a License Key Reset.
It's straightforward for us to reset the license but we will need a little information from you. Please complete the form here to enable us to reset your license key.
